Welcome to The Indicator
| ˈbelˌweT͟Hər | noun the leading sheep of a flock, with a bell on its neck. • an indicator or predictor of something: college campuses are often the bellwether of change | [as modifier] : the market's bellwether stock.
Welcome to Bellwether — a collection of limited edition, handwoven home textiles made from raw, regionally sourced wool. Our name reflects both our materials and our mission: to be a leader in shaping a more sustainable, transparent, and local future for American textiles.
At Bellwether, we believe the future of fiber is regenerative. That’s why we’ve chosen to work with natural, traceable wool and have built a supply chain rooted in our own region. Every step — from shearing and milling to weaving and finishing — happens in partnership with local farms, micro mills, artisan weavers, and small-scale sewing studios. Our process is hands-on, fossil-fuel-free, and committed to eliminating synthetic materials.
This work isn’t just about beautiful blankets or pillows (though we love those too). It’s about reconnecting with the land, supporting rural economies, and proving that sustainability and style can go hand in hand. We’re here to help reframe Modern American Craft — by honoring traditional techniques while designing textiles that feel at home in today’s world.
Thank you for joining us at the beginning. We’re glad you’re here.
— The Bellwether Team
In today’s world, where handmade textiles are rare, we are reviving a meaningful connection to craftsmanship.
Our work is a counterbalance to mass production, celebrating the nuances of hand making—a subtle reminder of our dynamic and mysterious world.
Hand selected wool, processed locally at a micro mill and woven in small batches, each Bellwether product showcases the evolution of our rich craft industry in America.
We hope to rekindle an appreciation for simple and natural textiles, allowing us to experience the world’s textures and hues in our everyday lives.
